New Platform, Who Dis?
HEY EVERYBODY! (aka all 3 consistent listeners), Thing 1 returns.
Recently, I announced that High & Bi podcast is on an indefinite hiatus. Although it sucks and I miss doing it, it was the best decision for where I am currently at in life. So many transformations and revelations have been happening. Yes, we only recorded once a month as compared to other shows that give you weekly content, but all the behind the scenes work was a one woman show!!! Obviously, it wasn't sustainable. Plus all of these sites seem to be constantly shifting and making it way less accessible for the average broke bitch to create a legacy out here.
I still love the idea of this podcast and want to find a way to continue giving you this gay ass art. So, through this blog I will share my brain and continue to develop my personal archive. I am hoping that this format will inspire me to post more frequently. Writing was my first love and lately I have been neglecting her, I believe this would be a great way to show her I care.
That being said, the plan so far is that I will post a little something something weekly and at the end of the month give y'all a longer, more thought out piece similar to the format that High & Bi operated under. Don't hold me to that cuz baby, I am only human and I have been in a life long war with consistency.
So here is a quick update on the life of Thing 1 as of May 2024:
- Unemployed almost 2 months (and BASKING IN IT DARLING)
- Fully diving into the life of a yogi/ on a journey to become a yoga teacher
- Kicking anxiety in the balls daily by embracing the Now
- Learning to listen/hear/trust my gut in all things
- Trying to get rid of my pesky tapeworm that craves alcohol
- Hitting the small stage for the first time as an actress in a One Act play for a local Black theater troupe
- Falling more in love with life and being grateful for everything that has gotten me to this point
If you happen to live on a remote island reading this in the year 2996, you may have no idea what I'm referring to so I will give you a quick overview of the current state of Mother Earth
- Multiple genocides justified with some weak ass modernized Manifest Destiny propaganda
- A global pandemic in which we were all left to fend for ourselves then was told was over and now we avoid discussing like the plague (pun intended) whilst thousands are still currently dying from
- A pending epidemic in the form of Bird Flu (or HN51) that is currently affecting our dairy sources and has spread to humans but has had 0 coverage on mainstream news
- Another "lesser of two evils" election that no one in their right mind is buying between Genocide Joe and a scumbag who is literally currently on trial!!!
- Rise in femicide and stripping of numerous reproductive rights
- Cut backs to LGBTQ rights
- Mexico City and Bogota, Colombia could run out of water in THIRTY DAYS
How does one avoid ending up in the white padded room you may ask? The main thing that I have always felt and that my current spiritual journey is reaffirming is that we are all connected. Humans, animals, plants, this planet; we absolutely do owe each other everything. What happens in one place has consequences and will eventually spread worldwide. If anything should have brought people to this mindset, you would think it would've been a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. But alas, here we are.
We are up against some serious, deep rooted wickedness. Knowing this means that there is no room for despair, no time to spiral. I think these are all the markings of an extinction burst to empires built on the unstable foundation of bones and blood. If they were confident in their hold on power, why would they need to go to such measures? Through it all, we are still here. Through it all Earth will survive and provide. There will always be those who see the value in this planet and the life that formed from her, and we will work toward the better existence that we always deserved.
